Sound Technologies Posts 45 Percent Increase in Ultrasound Sales
New Sales Figures Show Veterinary Industry Responsive to Using New Technologies
Carlsbad, CA – May 9, 2007 – Last February, Sound Technologies saw an increase in ultrasound sales of 45 percent over the same period one year ago. What does this mean for the industry?
“Veterinarians today are embracing ultrasound technology at a fast, healthy rate,” says Sound President Steve Eyl. “Portability, workflow and image quality are changing the way veterinarians use ultrasound. The technology advances are also making it easy for anyone to learn it, plus the demand is lowering the cost.”
Last month, GE Healthcare, Sound’s supplier of ultrasound technology, announced a worldwide market positioning with 43 percent market share, according to a report issued by Klein Biomedical Consultants. In fact, worldwide compact ultrasound revenues reached $67.8 million in the fourth quarter.
Veterinarians are using compact ultrasound systems at a growing rate to take images in a portable fashion. Sound’s Logiq-e series, for example, allows veterinarians to take cutting edge images in a compact design including the ability to play back raw data storage right on the spot.
“GE Ultrasound has paved the way with its technology and the veterinary profession has responded which is positive for the growth of the industry,” said Greg Stoutenburgh, marketing director of Sound. “We often hear our customers tell us that the compact design enables them to be more efficient with their time while increasing their ability to accurately diagnose.”
Sound Technologies offers veterinarians three compact models including the Logiq Book XP, the Logiq-e and the Vivid i. Sound also offers its customers education on its products and technology via its sponsored school called the Academy of Veterinary Imaging located in Texas.
