GE MEDICAL SYSTEMS RECEIVES TOP INDUSTRY AWARDS FOR TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP IN HEALTHCARE: “DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING COMPANY OF THE YEAR”

Sound Technologies announces the release of its TruDR Digital Radiography System.
Carlsbad, California, August 26, 2004 - TruDR Digital Radiography uses the latest large format Medical Flat-Panel Digital Detector to provide instant digital radiographic imaging with unprecedented diagnostic image enhancements. In place of traditional film-processor combinations, users simply expose the TruDR Digital Radiography detector using a standard radiographic generator. Seconds later, an image is available for review, magnification, technical adjustment, measurement, and enhancement. Every four to six seconds, perfect, clear digital exposures can be made and posted hospital-wide, to CD, laser printer, or to the Worldwide Web at www.vetpacs.com.
According to Dr. Bob Obrien, DACVR, a member of the Sound Technologies Radiology Advisory Board, “TruDR Digital Radiography significantly exceeds the image quality of conventional film and other, older Digital CR and DR technologies being promoted in veterinary medicine. By producing and delivering instant images to exam rooms, surgery, and radiology, TruDR provides unprecedented speed and accuracy in radiographic technique, staff-doctor communication, and doctor-client interaction. The veterinary specific image enhancements and design features of the TruDR Digital Radiography System will provide to its users a firm foundation for successful diagnosis, reporting, archiving, and communicating of images and reports. The new TruDR Digital Radiography System is an enormous leap forward for image quality, technology, and for veterinarians everywhere.”
“Sound Technologies and TruDR Digital Radiography have exceeded our very high expectations”, says Dr. Louis Licari of Fox Valley Animal Referral Center in Appleton Wisconsin. “Image quality was key in selecting TruDR Digital Radiography over conventional film or other digital CR and DR vendors. Yet, with 35 viewing workstations, 19 specialists, and a team of technicians, image quality was not the only deciding factor. Efficiency in capturing, reviewing, managing, reporting, sharing, archiving, and protecting our images were all key considerations. Only Sound Technologies could provide each of these important services at the level required by our team. Digital Radiography has made us more efficient, better at communicating, and more profitable. Our clients, our specialists, and our technicians love TruDR Digital Radiography.”
According to Dr. Michael Palescandolo, of Animal Emergency and Referral Center of West Caldwell New Jersey, “With the opening of our new Referral Center, we determined that our high-volume radiography and image reporting needs could only be met by ‘going digital’. After thorough research, two TruDR Digital Radiography Systems from Sound Technologies were selected over several other choices. Our evaluation included numerous CR providers and DR providers. TruDR Digital Radiography from Sound Technologies was the clear winner in delivering radiographic detail. Sound Technologies provided the knowledge and experience we expected from the market-leader in diagnostic veterinary imaging. Combined with steadfast execution, support, and long-term stability, these factors made our decision an easy one. Six thousand exams later, we couldn't be happier. Sound Technologies provides first-rate technology with unparalleled support for its products. They are very serious about the quality of their work and our work."
As managing director for several hospitals, Mr. Greg Stoutenburgh was challenged with selecting all Digital Radiography systems for his larger facilities. “Radiology is a mission critical part of our veterinary hospital businesses. Gathering information, narrowing the field, and checking the validity of the claims of Digital Radiography vendors was a challenge, to say the least. Through this process, one name rose the top of our lists, time and again. Sound Technologies and TruDR Digital Radiography clearly outperformed the others. The core image-quality technology has measurable specifications that are superior to other offerings, including those priced much higher. The data management of VetPACS proved to be more robust, comprehensively flexible, and finely tuned for veterinary medicine. The professionalism and positive experiences with the Sound Technologies’ management team, software team, information technology team, and sales and support team solidified our decision. Sound Technologies and TruDR Digital Radiography were selected for our leading practices. In the final analysis, nobody else could meet our present and future needs as well as Sound Technologies.”
Currently, TruDR Digital Radiography Systems are producing thousands of instant digital radiographs each month, in twenty of the highest volume veterinary facilities throughout the United States. In the coming months, Sound Technologies will “go-live” with an additional forty TruDR Digital Radiography Systems in selected veterinary medical facilities.
