Sound Technologies Introduces New Sound Assurance Customer Care.

Over $2 Million Invested in new Customer Care Mission

CARLSBAD, CA - October 3, 2006 - Sound Technologies, a Division of VCA Antech, Inc. (NASDAQ: WOOF), is pleased to introduce the new Sound Assurance customer care organization.

According to Steve Eyl, President of Sound Technologies, “Since becoming part of the VCA-Antech family, developing a world-class service, support, and testing organization has been our highest priority. At Sound, we are always on the lookout for opportunities to improve. Improvement begins with honest assessment and open ears. Customers know what they need, so we asked them. They spoke clearly. Sound Assurance must deliver live, prompt communication with technicians who have answers, rapid repairs, instant deployment of replacement parts, and rigorous product testing for stability and usability. Six months ago, we set Sound Assurance on the path to achieving these goals. Over two million dollars have been dedicated to this cause. We doubled our team. We invested in communications and testing technologies. Today, as the leader in veterinary digital radiography, ultrasound, and PACS software, we confidently rededicated ourselves to delivering the world class, personalized service our customers expect.”

According to Cameron Love, Manager of the Sound Assurance initiative, “Our new Sound Assurance Call Center is ready for action with major new capabilities.”

  • Call Center staff and management has been doubled
  • Mission critical experts in DICOM, Networking, PACS, Software, Digital Radiography Hardware, and Internet protocols have been added to the team
  • Sound Assurance calls during business hours are answered by a live operator
  • Sound Assurance calls are addressed in seven minutes or less
  • Sound Assurance calls are operator monitored for status updates, actions, and wait time
  • Sound Assurance After-Hours Emergency calls are automatically routed to the first available 24 Hour on-call technician for instant live support
  • “The Book” On-line Knowledge Base is now live, for instant in-call resource

Mr. Love goes on to explain, “Sound Assurance has now also taken the lead in product testing and service replacements. With our brand new computerized call management and development cycle system, Sound Assurance now provides rapid resolution in each key area of service. Working together with our partners at GE Healthcare and Varian Medical Systems, Sound Assurance tests and documents improvements for each Sound product. Customers are already seeing substantial stability and performance improvements.”

  • VetPACS software now undergoes the industry’s most rigorous testing for stability, performance, connectivity and usability. Each VetPACS release is subjected to over 7,000 discreet tests, covering 116 functional areas, over 2,000 man-hours.
  • “Artifacts” and image defects have been identified and repaired. Leading veterinary radiologists and specialists have totally redesigned the TruDR Anti-Scatter-Grids and SoundVu software algorithms. Experts agree, in side-by-side comparisons, new TruDR images are unrivaled.
  • Varian Medical Systems and Sound Technologies have created and implemented intense new testing protocols to ensure in-hospital stability and up-time for each medical imaging detector. This all-new Sound Assurance Quality Control process is now yielding up to 100% lot performance, as we provide quality control that is more stringent than any other Varian Medical detector implementation.
  • “Of course, there will be times when replacements and repairs are in order”, says Mr. Eyl. “Rest assured, in this rare event, Sound Assurance stands ready with our new, stronger capabilities and investments.”
